What are the New Enrichment Expectations?

With the Government’s new Enrichment Framework and increased emphasis on personal development, belonging and wider opportunities, schools are being encouraged to provide high-quality enrichment experiences that ensure every child can flourish.

The Government’s proposed Enrichment Framework aims to ensure that every child has access to a broad and balanced range of opportunities, regardless of background or ability.

Schools are expected to provide experiences across five key areas:

• Sport and Physical Activity
• Developing healthy, active lifestyles through sport, fitness and movement.
• Arts and Culture
• Providing creative experiences through dance, music and performance.
• Nature and Adventure

Enrichment is no longer viewed as an “add-on”, but as a key part of a broad and balanced education.

The new government’s proposed Enrichment Framework places enrichment at the heart of a broader, richer curriculum, with expectations around participation, belonging, life skills and personal development. Schools will increasingly need to demonstrate a planned and inclusive offer across sport, arts, outdoor learning, life skills and civic engagement.

This creates a huge opportunity for PE Leads and Headteachers.
